5 new COVID-19-related deaths reported, 338 new cases

The Utah Department of Health reports 338 new COVID-19 cases and five new deaths, although two of those reported deaths happened before April 1.

All of the deaths happened to people either hospitalized or in a long-term care facility at the time of their deaths, and each person was older than 65.

UDOH reports the following statistics:

Positives:

  • We will report 397,323 positive cases today. This is an increase of 338 new cases since yesterday.

Vaccines:

  • We will report 2,146,777 total vaccines administered which is 21,945 more than yesterday.

Lab Tests:

  • We will report 2,557,368 people tested. This is an increase of 5,603 people tested since yesterday.
  • We will report 4,641,439 total tests. This is an increase of 12,091 tests since yesterday.

Trends:

  • The rolling 7-day average for positive tests is 378 per day.
  • The rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “people over people” is 6.6%. The rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 3.5%.

Hospitalizations:

  • There are 145 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Total hospitalizations from the beginning of the outbreak are 16,174.

Deaths:

We will report 2,202 total deaths, which is five more than yesterday. Two of these deaths occurred prior to April 1, 2021.

  • Female, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Female, between 65-84, Utah County resident, long-term care facility resident
  • Male, between 65-84, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Female, older than 85, Davis County resident, long-term care facility resident
