Ogden, Utah – According to the statement, the suspect allegedly approached and grabbed the young girl on the playground, pulling her away as if he intended to leave with her.
The teacher was able to confront the man and then usher the children into an adjacent classroom when he unhanded her.
According to the Ogden Police Department, the man then approached the building and began punching the window in an apparent attempt to force his way inside.
During that time the employee drew the firearm and held off the assailant while calling 911.
When officers arrived on scene, they were able to take the man into custody after a brief struggle.
The man appeared to be high on narcotics.
The suspect has been booked into the Weber County Jail on one count of child kidnapping, which is a first-degree felony.
