PROVO, Utah – Heralded transfer brothers Samson, Puka Nacua are officially headed to BYU.

The two brothers announced their commitments to BYU back on March 8th. Now with the paperwork signed, the Cougars have a pair of talented receivers joining their program.

“We are very excited about the additions of Sampson and Puka,” said BYU head coach Kalani Sitake. “They are both experienced and talented receivers and come from an amazing family and a great bloodline of football players to come through BYU. Their character and leadership will be a great asset to our program and university and will add to the great culture that has already been established here at BYU.”

Puka transferred to BYU from the University of Washington and Samson is coming in as a graduate transfer from rival Utah.

Samson Nacua will be eligible immediately this season. Younger brother Puka will have to wait on a waiver from the NCAA to be able to play this fall.

The NCAA is expected to have a vote this spring according to reports on all student-athletes having a one-time waiver to play immediately when transferring to a new school. If the NCAA delays their one-time waiver decision, Nacua could file his own waiver request with the NCAA as he is moving from Seattle back to Provo to be close to his mother, Penina.

“Excited to have @AsapPuka and @lionel_nacua officially join the BYU family! Our team will be better because of them, and they will be better because of our team. Time to get to work! #GoCougs,” wrote BYU Passing Game Coordinator Fesi Sitake on Twitter.

Puka and Samson Nacua are the younger brothers to former BYU great Kai Nacua. They also had an older brother in Isaiah Nacua sign with the program out of Bishop Gorman High School.

Puka Nacua was a High School All-American coming out of Orem High School in the class of 2019. Samson played in 45 games during his Utah career and was a key target in the Utes 2018 and 2019 seasons.
