OREM, Utah — The final week of WAC regular season play begins on Monday with Utah Valley University headed to Houston Baptist University for a Monday night contest against the Huskies at 7 p.m. CT/6 p.m. MT.

The Wolverines (2-3-0, 1-3-0) are currently on the outside looking in at a WAC Tournament berth and need wins this week to have a shot at next week’s tournament in Las Vegas.

UVU is coming off of a tough loss in overtime to San José State on Wednesday. After trailing 2-0, the Wolverines came back to force overtime but the Spartans got the golden goal late in the first OT. The Wolverines’ two goals came on an own goal and a Zahir Vazquez penalty kick.

“After Wednesday’s gutting loss we were really interested to see their reaction in the training days that followed” said Interim Head Coach Michael Chesler.  “We were extremely impressed with the quality of work we saw at training. The guys showed up determined to fix the things we had spoken about that needed improvement and build upon the things we did well. We know playing HBU on the road is never an easy game, but we look forward to getting back on the pitch and competing.”

Utah Valley will return to Clyde Field on Friday, April 9 to host California Baptist in the regular season finale at 7 p.m. MT on Clyde Field.

Houston Baptist also dropped an overtime heartbreaker in its most recent contest last week, falling 4-3 to UT Rio Grande Valley. The Huskies (0-7-2) will close out their season on Friday at Air Force.
