Men’s golf set to compete at PING Cougar Classic in Provo

OREM, Utah — After a two-week break from tournament play, the Utah Valley men’s golf team gets back on the course to compete in the PING Cougar Classic, April 23-24, at Riverside Country Club in Provo.

Quoting Coach Chris Curran
“The Cougar Classic is such a great event on a great golf course. It’s nice to play an event right down the road. We’ve had some players have success here in the past. This is our final prep before the conference tournament next week. We’re looking to find some momentum heading into that event.”

Tournament Information
The Cougar Classic will begin with a practice round on Thursday, April 21. The tournament will feature 36 holes on Friday (April 22), followed by the final 18-hole round on Saturday, April 23.

Tournament Field
The 19-team field includes host BYU, San Francisco, New Mexico, San Diego, Boise State, Nevada, St. Mary’s (CA), Utah, Loyola Marymount, UNLV, Colorado State, Santa Clara, Denver, Wyoming, Gonzaga, Dixie State, Air Force, New Mexico State, and Utah Valley.

About the Course
Tournament will be played on the par-72, 7,142-yard Riverside Country Club in Provo, Utah.

Team UVU
Competing for UVU this week will be Brady McKinlayKai IguchiGabe LysenJoseph Glenn, and Aaron Yeates.

Last Time Out
Utah Valley’s McKinlay tied for seventh in the 120-player field at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic at Whirlwind Golf Club with a three-round score of 8-under-par 208 (68-71-69) on April 6. Utah Valley finished 16th in the 23-team field with a three-round score of 12-over-par 876 (294-295-287).
