No new COVID-19 deaths reported as test positivity rate drops

PROVO, Utah – The Utah Department of Health said Thursday that no deaths were reported because of a data transmission error. Deaths that should have been reported Thursday will be included in deaths Friday. The original story follows:

No new COVID-19 deaths were reported Thursday as 16,579 vaccine doses were administered and 1,761 new cases were tallied.

Here’s the data, as reported by the Utah Department of Health:

Positives:

We will report 342,445 positive cases today. This is an increase of 1,761 new cases since yesterday.

Vaccines:

Please Note: By clicking on the “Vaccines” tab on the case counts web page, you can see a breakdown of people immunized with one dose, people immunized with two doses, and information on patient residence by health district.

We will report 267,027 total vaccines administered which is 16,579 more than yesterday.

Lab Tests:

We will report 2,000,023 people tested. This is an increase of 10,917 people tested since yesterday.

Trends:

The rolling 7-day average for positive tests is 1,710 per day. The rolling 7-day average for percent of positive laboratory tests is 18.26%.

Hospitalizations:

There are 444 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Total hospitalizations from the beginning of the outbreak are 13,279.

Deaths:

We will report 1,620 total deaths, the same as yesterday.
