There’s nothing charitable about a billboard thanking Trump

PROVO, Utah – At first I was shocked to read Marina McNairy’s article regarding the raising of funds for a billboard as a “thanks” to Donald J. Trump (Jan. 22).  That feeling changed to incredulous when I thought about all the people in Utah having a hard time — homeless, unemployed, hungry, unhealthy, isolated, depressed and in need of help.

Trump has benefited immensely from his businesses while he was in office.  Just the money brought in from charges for the rooms at Mar Lago the U.S. government paid for his security, would probably help out a lot of people in need. Trump is a dealmaker and he is not known for his charity and empathy.

I assume most people in Utah County call themselves Christians, but I don’t see anything in the donations being kind, benevolent and doing good for mankind. The billboard will not benefit anyone but the company that is paid to put it up or someone’s ego.
