Utah COVID-19 update: 12 more deaths, 1,591 new cases confirmed in past 24 hours

PROVO, Utah – The Utah Department of Health on Wednesday reported 12 more COVID-19 deaths confirmed in the past 24 hours and 1,591 new cases since yesterday.

Total cases now stand at 350,000 and deaths number 1,697.

The 12 who died were:

  • 2 males between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • A male between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • A male, older than 85, Weber County resident, long-term care facility resident
  • A male, between 45-64, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • A male, between 65-84, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • A male, between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • A female, between 65-84, Box Elder County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • A female older than 85, Davis County resident, long-term care facility resident
  • A female between 65-84, Davis County resident, long-term care facility resident
  • A female, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
  • A female, between 65-84, Washington County resident, long-term care facility resident

Vaccines administered now number 345,179, which is 19,722 more than yesterday.

Lab tests now given for the virus number 2,044,811, an increase of 9,149 people tested since yesterday.

The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 1,334 per day. The rolling seven-day average for percent of positive laboratory tests is 16.6%.

Those hospitalized with COVID-19 number 352. Total hospitalizations from the beginning of the outbreak are 13,648.
