Utah COVID-19 update: 17 more deaths, 1,411 new cases in past 24 hours

PROVO, Utah – The Utah Department of Health on Tuesday reported 17 more COVID-17 deaths and 1,411 more positive cases confirmed in the past 24 hours.

That brings the total positive cases to 338,675 and cumulative deaths to 1,613. One death reported on Jan. 23 had been subtracted because if was discovered the victim was from Nevada, not Salt Lake County as had been believed.

In addition, four of the deaths reported today occurred in December of 2020.

The 17 newly reported deaths were of:

  • Three Davis county women between 65 and 84, long-term care facility residents
  • A Davis County man, older than 85, not hospitalized
  • An Iron County man between 65 and 84, a long-term care facility resident
  • A Morgan County man, older than 85, a long-term care facility resident
  • A Salt Lake County woman between 45 and 64, hospitalized
  • A Salt Lake County man between 45 and 64, hospitalized
  • A Salt Lake County man between 65 and 84, hospitalized
  • A Salt Lake County woman between 65 and 84, a long-term care facility resident
  • A Sanpete County woman between 65 and 84, hospitalized
  • A Utah County man between 45 and 64, a long-term care facility resident
  • A Utah County man between 65 and 84, hospitalized
  • A Utah County man between 45 and 64, hospitalized
  • A Utah County man, older than 85, hospitalized
  • A Washington County man between 45 and 64, not hospitalized
  • A Washington County man between 65 and 84, a long-term care facility resident

Vaccines administered number 237,637, which is 8,062 more than yesterday. The chart below shows vaccine numbers broken down by area of the state.
