Utah COVID-19 update: 2 deaths, 480 more cases confirmed in past day

PROVO, Utah — The Utah Department of Health on Wednesday announced two more deaths and 480 new cases documented in the past day.

The added cases bring Utah’s cumulative total to 398,979. Deaths now stand at 2,219.

The two deaths were of:

  • A male, between 45-64, Weber County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • A female, between 45-64, Millard County resident, hospitalized at time of death

Vaccines administered total 2,223,511, which is 18,687 more than yesterday.

People tested number 2,582,182, an increase of 7,190 since yesterday. Tests administered stand at 4,693,838, an increase of 15,569 tests since yesterday.

The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 352 per day. The rolling seven-day average for percent positivity of “people over people” is 6.6%. The rolling seven-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 3.5%.

There are 153 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Total hospitalizations from the beginning of the outbreak are 16,278.
