A 63-year-old man was sentenced to federal prison for being in possession of a drug with the intent to distribute it

Salt Lake City – According to the court documents, his name is Brent Orton and he was sentenced to 51 months in prison for possessing Alpha PHP.

Prosecutors say that the Alpha PHP is a designer drug and variant of bath salts that puts users into an “intense high” and is reported to mimic the effects of cocaine and methamphetamine.

The 63-year-old man pled guilty to a one-count criminal information filed by federal prosecutors charging him with possession with intent to distribute the narcotic.

He admitted to receiving a package of Alpha PHP with the intent to distribute the narcotic.

Prosecutors say the suspect distributed between 575,000 to 4,600,000 doses in Utah. The drug sold for approximately $300 to $500 per gram.
