California father is charged with the murder of his two young children. The 40-year-old man says he was “inspired by QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories,” according to court documents. His name is Matthew Coleman took his two young children from their California home to Mexico without his wife knowing and allegedly shot each of them in their chests with a spearfishing gun.
According to court documents, the 40-year-old told FBI agents “he believed his children were going to grow into monsters so he had to kill them.” His wife had called the police after waking up to find her husband and children gone. He hadn’t told her where they were going and wasn’t responding to text messages.
She told police that she didn’t believe the children were in danger and the couple had had no arguments before he left. The 40-year-old man was detained at the border checkpoint, where during an interview with an FBI agent “he explained that he was enlightened by QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories and was receiving visions and signs revealing that his wife, A.C., possessed serpent DNA and had passed it on to his children”.
The children’s bodies were found by a farmworker at a ranch on Monday. The prosecutor said the girl had been stabbed 12 times and the boy was stabbed 17 times. Coleman appeared in court on Wednesday where a federal judge ordered that he be detained. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Aug. 31.
