SALT LAKE CITY, UT – Utah County Attorney David Leavitt stated Wednesday that he contracted COVID-19 for a second time and had to quarantine in the Netherlands, where he tested positive.

Leavitt said that he was on his way to Ukraine to attend a family matter, when he began feeling ill and tested positive for COVID-19.

“We had urgent family matters there and in light of the threat of invasion of Russia, I jumped on a plane with my sons,” Leavitt said in the statement. “Our original plan was to take care of the matter over the weekend.”

The County Attorney first got infected with the virus in April 2020.

Leavitt will remain isolated in Amsterdam until he tests negative and is able to travel.
